About Me

I have always been interested in taking picture/photography ever since I was 10yrs old. I even remember the very first photo I ever took and the excitement I had while waiting for the film to develop (way back before digital). The minute I saw my first picture, the first thought that came to my then 10yr old mind was probably something like this, "Wow, cool its like I am a time lord and I froze time!"...what!? I was 10yrs old, that's how my mind worked haha. But that is one of the many reasons that photography has stuck with me over the last 14yrs. Just the awesome feeling you get when you realise that you captured a second in time be it good/bad, happy/sad that will be there to look back on forever. Nothing like that feeling.

Unfortunately back then and even up through high school I was never able to take any photography classes so I am completely self taught. I did/do have awesome and encouraging parents that would go to the shop and buy me rolls of film for my first camera, which was just your average point camera. That meant I had to be creative with my shooting. With the lack of zooming and other basic features that now I probably take for granted. For me, the first type of photography I did was sports. Particularly, mountain biking and BMX. My brother and our friends used to build jumps in my buddies back yard and see how far and high we could go (only one broken bone…but a lot of scrapes and scars.)

By the time the local town decided to build us a skate park we relocated there. I had upgraded to my very first SLR camera, the Nikon F65. Which only furthered my love of photography. We would spend all day at the park, I would spend the whole time snapping shots of my friend Ryan, going though roll after roll of film.
Once I saved up enough money I decided to upgrade from the F65 to my first digital SLR which was the D70s. It was a really big purchase for me because I was still just a young kid in grade nine and I also had to buy the camera with my own money. And spending $1200 on just a camera body was crazy for a kid my age. But none the less I bought it and feel in love with it the minute I snapped the first picture. A few year have passed since then and I have now again upgraded to the D300s which is amazing.

Over the years I have done odd jobs in the photography area from modeling shoots, family shoots and weddings. But I am always learning and looking to try new styles of photography. That’s another reason I love photography, there will always be something new to try and experiment with.

So I hope you like my blog and check back ever so often to see what I have to say!
